Man accused of carjacking, kidnapping Gwinnett mother, baby at gas station in custody

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A man accused of carjacking and kidnapping a Gwinnett County mother and her baby is now in custody after months on the run.

Gwinnett County police said Quinton Rogers, 42, was arrested this week with the help of US Marshals and the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office.

The random attack happened four months ago at the Exxon gas station on Boggs Road on Aug. 18. The victim told police she had stopped to get something to eat.

Surveillance video showed the woman in the parking lot eating at her car when a man, identified as Rogers, walked up behind her.

Rogers is accused of punching the woman several times and forcing her into the backseat with her baby as he got into the driver’s seat. The video showed him drive the car off with two of the doors wide open.

“While the male was driving away with the victim and her baby, he demanded money from her. He also told her that he was going to choke her and kill her,” police said in August.

The mother grabbed her baby and jumped from the car to escape. Police identified her attacker as Rogers in October. He faces charges of hijacking a motor vehicle and two counts of kidnapping.
