All lanes reopen after major crash on I-85 injures 5 people

FAIRBURN, Ga. — All lanes of I-85 SB at Senoia Road were shut down Wednesday morning due to a major accident that has left five people injured.

Three of the five people injured are in “very serious condition,” according to the Fairburn Police Department.

Three people who were injured were in a mini-van and one was in a sanitation truck. One of the people inside the mini-van was critically injured and flown to the hospital via helicopter, according to Fairburn’s fire chief.

Georgia Department of Transportation cameras showed at least one helicopter that landed on the highway.

It’s unclear what caused the crash.

All lanes have since reopened and traffic has recovered.

The names of those injured have not been released and it’s unclear if anyone is facing any charges.
