Knife-wielding man dies after DeKalb officer shooting, authorities say

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A man is dead after police say he lunged at DeKalb County officers with a knife on Monday evening.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called to investigate after officers opened fire on the man.

Police said officers were called to the 2500 block of Terrace Trail around 6 p.m. to a call of a man “wielding a knife.” When officers arrived, they said they tried to make contact with the man, but he lunged at officers with the knife causing one of them to open fire on him. It’s unknown if he was hit, but officers said he ran into a home.
