HALL COUNTY, Ga. — A Gainesville man is in jail after being accused of getting drunk and attacking a woman and her family.
According to a report from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Christopher Neal Tilmuth, 36, is accused of trying to fight a 60-year-old woman, and others, at a home on Athens Highway on Saturday.
One of the victims inside called 911, telling deputies about the fight and reporting injuries.

When deputies got to the house, they found Tilmuth and the woman outside of the home.
In the house, a man was found with multiple injuries to his face and head.

Further investigation by Hall County deputies revealed that before Tilmuth had gotten into the fight with the woman, he’d confronted two other adults outside of the home.
Deputies said Tilmuth then “pointed a handgun at the two and fired a round between their heads.”
Neither of those victims were injured and deputies said they found a spent shell casing in the yard.
At one point, Tilmuth is also accused of grabbing the 60-year-old victim by her shirt collar, screaming at her, and grabbing her arm so roughly that he left marks behind.
The man who was injured told deputies he tried to intervene, which is when Tilmuth wrestled him to the ground and repeatedly punched him.
Tilmuth was awarded a $6,500 bond and is currently still in jail, facing charges of:
- Simple battery under the Family Violence Act (FVA)
- Battery under the Family Violence Act (FVA)
- Violation of a family violence order
- Reckless conduct (two counts)
- Discharging a firearm near a public highway
- Obstruction/resisting arrest (two counts)
