Investigators at the scene spoke to witnesses, who told them Jared Bryant Miranda Rosas, 24 of Dawsonville, was backing a flatbed truck into the westbound lane on Browns Bridge Road from a makeshift parking spot on the shoulder.
While Miranda Rosas was backing out, Gerardo Miranda Cruz, 49 of Lakewood, Wash., was in the road trying to stop traffic, so the driver could finish backing the truck out.

Deputies said Barbara Payne, who was sitting in the front passenger seat at the time, died in the crash.
Robert Payne was also taken to the hospital with visible but non-life-threatening injuries, according to HCSO.
Miranda Rosas was arrested on charges of 2nd degree vehicular homicide and improper backing, while Cruz was charged with pedestrian in roadway.
Deputies said the road was shut down for about two-and-a-half hours for crews to investigate and remove wreckage from the scene.
