When they arrived, they found 66-year-old Sadie Ware dead. Police believe she was hit by a teal/green truck or SUV as she crossed the roadway.

Investigators say that when they arrived, the driver had already left.

Channel 2′s Tom Regan was out in Gwinnett County on Wednesday and spoke to people who know the area well.

“These people, they just don’t care about certain peoples lives, they speed here a lot,” Joshua Valles told Channel 2 Action News.

“It’s scary, I would start walking some of these times, the cars they feel like they can speed up,” Alyssa Mos said.

Prior to Ware being struck, her son called for help saying his mom had wandered off from their home without his knowledge.

It is not clear if Ware had some type of medical condition or not.

The investigation is still ongoing and police said they was working to identify the driver of a 1997-2002 teal/green truck or SUV with a broken headlight.
