GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — For hours on Thursday night and Friday morning, Gwinnett County officers, deputies and SWAT surrounded a house, but didn’t find who they were looking for.
Channel 2′s Darryn Moore was outside the home on Imperial Drive off Centerville Highway during Channel 2 Action News This Morning.
On Friday afternoon, police said they had a man in custody, later identified as Denzel James Thompson. He now faces multiple charges and is in custody at the Gwinnett County Jail.

According to the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office, Thompson opened fire on deputies as they executed a warrant at a home in Snellville.
No members of law enforcement were injured during the incident, according to officials.
During the multi-agency operation, where GCSO was assisted by the Gwinnett Police Uniform Division, Gwinnett Police SWAT Team, and other local agencies, a robot and officers with weapons drawn and bulletproof shields went into the home.

Thompson now faces charges of:
- 4 counts aggravated assault a gainst a law enforcement officer
- 4 counts of possessing a firearm or knife during the commission of a crime
- Unauthorized weapons discharge within 50 yards of a public highway
