This was the first time the rapper was able to give back to his community, and he said it was significant in the wake of the death of his cousin and Migos groupmate, Takeoff.

“Thanks to all the kids for always listening to me and always being there for me,” Offset said. “We been going through a tough time, but God is good.”

Gwinnett County leaders says Offset will always have a home in Lawrenceville and presented him with the inaugural key to the county.

“We’re so proud of you and all you are doing to uplift and support our community,” Chairwoman Nicole Hendrickson said.

Atlanta City Councilman Byron Amos also attended to present Offset an award for his community service and recognize his contribution to the area’s musical culture.
