GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A metro Atlanta county, one of the biggest, is offering free tree planting opportunities for homeowners.
Gwinnett County’s Front Yard Tree Program helps residents in unincorporated parts of the county get a free tree delivered and planted in their front yard.

According to the county government, the deadline to apply for a tree is extended through Friday.
The program is funded by fees collected from Gwinnett County’s Tree Protection Ordinance and no taxpayer dollars are used for it.
Here’s what the county requires to participate:
- Applicants must be homeowners in unincorporated Gwinnett County.
- Applicants can select one tree.
- Applicants can apply again if they have previously received a tree.
The tree must be planted in the homeowner’s front yard
