UPDATE: Driver ejected, killed in crash on I-85 in Gwinnett County identified

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Police say a man was killed when he was ejected from his car during a crash on I-85 in Gwinnett County

Channel 2 Action News at 6 p.m. reported on the crash on the southbound lanes near Beaver Ruin Road Tuesday afternoon.

Police said they believe the driver, identified Wednesday as 40-year-old Earl Griffis IV, either had a collision or a near-collision with an SUV before he hit the median wall and his car rolled over.

After Griffis’ Honda Accord crashed, a silver or white SUV continued to travel southbound and fled the scene.
