Gun found in car after high school students trespassed at another Gwinnett school

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Gwinnett County Schools are investigating a group of students they say trespassed on another high school’s property and brought a gun with them.

Mill Creek High School Principal Jason Lane sent a letter to parents stating the students entered the building during one of the lunch periods.

The students from the other high school were caught and taken to the front office for search and questioning.

Lane said the driver’s car was searched and school resource officers found an unloaded gun and paraphernalia under the seats.

“Mill Creek High School and Gwinnett County Public Schools take this situation seriously. Students and staff are to be commended for their professional and caring response to this incident. We will continue to work together with students, staff, and the community to ensure that our school is a safe and secure place for learning,” Lane said.

The letter did not state which school the students came from or if the driver was a student, but charges have been filed.

Channel 2 Action News has reached out to the school district to confirm how many students have been charged.
