The Monroe hospital announced the opening Wednesday, Oct. 14, after construction began in January.
The expansion adds 16 exam rooms, two trauma rooms and four fast-track rooms to the emergency department, which serves as Walton County’s designated Level III Trauma Center.
Hospital officials said the additional space is designed to accommodate more patients, improve patient flow and reduce wait times while expanding access to emergency services.

“This expansion is a direct response to the growing needs of our community,” said Blake Watts, chief executive officer of Piedmont Walton Hospital.
Watts said the new space will allow the hospital to care for more patients and give medical staff additional resources to provide emergency care.
The hospital provides emergency services around the clock for a range of medical conditions and traumatic injuries.
Officials said the expansion is intended to strengthen access to emergency care closer to home as the region continues to grow.
