Ga. teacher accused of sexually assaulting students for the second time in 4 months

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. — A Georgia teacher is being charged with sexually assaulting his students for the second in just a few months.

Scott William Hooker, 40, was arrested earlier this week on charges of sexual assault against a 16-year-old girl from an incident dating back to 2017, WJBF-TV reports.

The assault reportedly happened while Hooker was a teacher at Evans High School in Columbia County.

TRENDING STORIES:

In April, Hooker was arrested and charged with improper sexual contact by an employee, sexual battery and simple battery for an incident that took place at Burke County High School during school hours.

The incident report obtained by Channel 2 Action News says that Hooker had repeatedly made the female student uncomfortable.

Another student saw Hooker inappropriately touch the victim and reported it to the school administration, according to the incident report.

After his arrest, the Burke County School District Superintendent, Dr. Angela Williams, released a statement to WJBF-TV that read:

The school district would never knowingly compromise the safety and well-being of students. Once the complaint was filed, the employee was immediately placed on administrative leave pending investigation and is not currently working on campus. We have cooperated fully with the appropriate governmental agencies in connection with this investigation and will continue to do so. Any additional information will be released by law enforcement.

Hooker was released from the Burke County Detention Center on bond. He is currently being held in the Columbia County Jail.
