Police said that midway through 2025, Roswell detectives were informed that Dominguez Soto died by suicide in Mexico.

After working with federal and international partners, Roswell police said they verified Dominguez Soto’s death and confirmed he had acted alone.

Once Dominguez Soto’s death was officially confirmed, Roswell police updated Sauer’s family about the investigation and the case was formally closed.

“We are sharing this update so our community, who mourned with us and helped seek answers, knows the final outcome. Above all, our thoughts remain with Ms. Sauer’s family and loved ones as they continue to grieve and heal,” the department said in a statement.

Sauer, who was found dead in 2024, was known for operating Casa de Quesadilla restaurant in Sandy Springs. The restaurant closed and was put up for sale.

As previously reported by Channel 2 investigative reporter Mark Winne, Sauer’s body was found by a cyclist on Christmas Eve in a ditch near the Riverwalk Trail.

At the time, the Roswell Police Department said “Tragically, the victim had been shot and her body discarded in the area where it was found. We immediately mobilized all of our investigative resources and were able to quickly identify our suspect, Roberto Dominguez Soto, who had had a very brief relationship with the victim.”

Those close to Sauer told Winne in 2025 that she had dated Dominguez Soto a few times but was not interested in a longer relationship.

“I feel like this gentleman slowly became obsessed with her,” Erika Delgado said previously.

Erika’s sister Maria Delgado said at one point, she’d come to Sauer’s home to find the door kicked in, with Sauer saying Dominguez Soto had stolen her phone after doing so.

“Blanca did say that she feared for her life and if anything were to ever happen to her that it was most likely Roberto Dominquez Soto,” Maria Delgado previously told Winne.

After fleeing from the area after Sauer’s death, Roswell police said Dominguez Soto was wanted on firearms charges out of Mexico and that Interpol was looking for him.

He was found dead by suicide in Mexico months after the killing, police said.
