Deputy shoots, kills suspect in Forsyth County who called 911 asking for help

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — A suspect involved in a shooting with Forsyth County sheriff’s deputies is dead.

Investigators say deputies responded to a 911 call of a woman asking for help Thursday evening. When they arrived to the scene along a portion of Dahlonega Highway in Cumming, they heard several shots being fired.

Deputies say Yonatan Aguilera, 40, pointed a gun at a woman after they located him before firing a single shot into the ground.

The GBI says that deputies then fired at Aguilera and he was struck multiple times. Deputies tried to provide aid, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neither the woman nor the deputies involved were injured.

Once the GBI completes their investigation, they will provide their findings to the Bell Forsyth District Attorney for review.

Sheriff Freeman has requested the GBIs assistance with an officer involved shooting investigation that has occurred this evening. No deputies were injured and the suspect is deceased.
