Mom charged after 6-year-old daughter killed in crash in Forsyth County

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Deputies have made an arrest in a July car crash in Forsyth County that left a 6-year-old girl dead.

Stacie Reid, 33, is being charged with vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and more after deputies say she caused a collision on Crystal Cove Trail.

According to investigators, Reid was driving her gray Toyota Camry with her daughter buckled in and sitting in a car seat in the backseat.

Reid’s car then crossed over into the southbound lanes and drove off the side of the road at 3:15 p.m. She corrected herself and got back on the road, but was then driving north in the southbound lanes, deputies say.

That is when investigators say a red Chevrolet Impala, being driven by a 19-year-old, came over the hill. The two vehicles crashed into each other head-on.

The driver of the Chevrolet Impala was taken to a local hospital, but survived his injuries.

Reid, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was listed in serious condition at the hospital, but also survived her injuries. Reid’s daughter was not responding to paramedics on the scene and died from her injuries at the hospital.

According to Forsyth County Jail records, Reid is being held without bond on charges of vehicular homicide, DUI, reckless driving, open container and a seatbelt violation.
