FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — A metro Atlanta fire crew is getting attention after responding to a rescue that was anything but routine.
According to a social media post from a local fire department, firefighters from Station 14/C were called to help a chameleon that became stuck in a tree last week.
The department joked that crews have apparently “moved on from cats in trees” and are now keeping an eye out for chameleons.
The post showed the small reptile after firefighters helped bring it safely back to the ground. Officials said the call was a first for the crew.

“This one was a new one for us,” the department wrote, adding that they were glad the chameleon was OK and thanking Station 14/C for the rescue effort.
Animal rescues are not uncommon for firefighters, but a stranded chameleon is certainly less typical than the classic cat-in-a-tree call.
The good news: The unusual rescue had a happy ending, and the chameleon made it down safely thanks to the firefighters’ quick response.
