CORNELIA, Ga. — The former IT director of a northeast Georgia city was accused of stealing nearly $100,000 worth of equipment from the government he worked for.
Jeremy Dundore was charged by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation with theft by deception and first degree forgery.
He was accused of stealing more than $95,000 from the City of Cornelia.
In April, the Cornelia Police Department asked the GBI to investigate the theft of funds from the city.

The City of Cornelia told Channel 2 Action News that Dundore was fired for unrelated reasons in March. A follow-up audit after his termination led to the investigation about the theft.
“Following his departure, the city conducted an audit and determined that high dollar equipment was missing. Once this was identified, the incident was turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI) for further investigation,” the city said.
Officials said the case remains ongoing, and that the city is cooperating fully with the GBI investigation.
While it would not provide further comment, Cornelia said it takes the security of its assets seriously, as well as the integrity of its operations, and took steps to improve inventory controls as a result of the incident with Dundore.
