Deputies searching for ‘armed and dangerous’ 17-year-old wanted in man’s murder

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — Deputies are searching for a 17-year-old they say shot and killed a man in Douglas County this week.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a car accident and shots fired on March 16 on Silver Way in Lithia Springs.

Deputies arrived to find 21-year-old Melvin Porter dead in the driver’s seat of a minivan that had left the road and was behind a home.

Deputies talked to witnesses and reviewed surveillance video and were able to identify Nathanael Michael Searcy, 17, as the shooter.

Multiple search warrants have been executed and the case is still ongoing. Two other people, who were associates of Searcy and were at the scene of the crime, were also arrested. Additional arrests are expected.

Police said that they consider Searcy to be armed and dangerous.
