Deputy befriends kids during meal delivery in Coweta County

COWETA COUNTY, Ga. — An unsuspecting family and a deputy on a mission to help the community formed a bond that’s making them all smile during a tough time.

Kacee Feemster has a daughter and two sons. Given what’s going on in the world right now, things have gotten difficult, but a surprise visit has helped lift her family’s spirits.

It was a quiet afternoon at the Feemster home in Coweta County, but Feemster admits she got a little panicked.

"We were sitting on the porch and he just pulled in and got out of the car. He said, 'Ma'am, how many children do you have?’,” Feemster said.

Coweta County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike McGuffey wanted some answers because he had a delivery to make.

"We've got hot dogs today,” McGuffey said.

The county school system is providing free meals for children in need.

McGuffey is the school resource officer at Smokey Road Middle School.

Even though Feemster’s children are much younger, when the deputy saw them playing out in the yard, he added them to his delivery list.

"The favorite thing he got me was a good 'ol chicken sandwich,” Feemster’s son said.

The random act of kindness is piling up likes on Feemster and the sheriff's Facebook pages.

McGuffey has been by every day this week and the kids can't wait to see him.

"It was very touching, because right now I’m out of work. My husband is the only one working. It helps to have somebody who cares enough about your children, even if they don't know you," Feemster said.

Feemster says the best part about it all is that her kids have a new friend.
