Woman dies after she’s shot multiple times, crashes her SUV in DeKalb County

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A woman died after police say she was shot by someone she knew and crashed her car in the middle of the day.

DeKalb County police responded around 2 p.m. to Martins Crossing and Hemingway Road where they found 44-year-old Merinda Henderson shot multiple times inside her Land Rover SUV.

Police said Jaworski Rainey pulled up in the parking lot next to her SUV, got out of his car and shot Henderson. She tried to get away but crashed her SUV and died at the scene.

Investigators later tracked Rainey’s vehicle to Summit Lake Drive via Flock cameras. SWAT officers responded and got Rainey to surrender. Rainey will face a murder charge.
