Mom says boys suspended for attacking son came right back to school and did it again

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Parents are furious about a brawl at a DeKalb County high school involving several students because they blame a lack of leadership.

Video of the fight at Cedar Grove High School has circulated on social media.

Channel 2′s Tyisha Fernandes was at the high school Wednesday, where parent Tebreshia Perry said the fight escalated when the students got outside.

Perry said both her son and daughter were jumped by a group of boys that are constantly starting trouble at the school. She said they threw up gang signs after the fight.

“Somebody knew what was going to happen, because they recorded (the fight) from beginning to end,” she said.

“You all do not have this under control. He’s on somebody’s back, he’s over there,” Perry said. “Like, it’s a mess.”

Perry said she warned administrators that the fight might happen because the same group of students jumped her son at the beginning of the year. Administrators suspended them and switched them to virtual learning, but when they came back to school last week, they threatened her son again.

“I don’t understand why is this taking place when I just gave you all a heads up that it was about to happen,” Perry said.

She said after the fight, her kids called her and she left work to go get them. Perry said the boys started throwing gang signs again.

“One of the other boys reaches in the car, goes under the seat and now he has a gun in his hand,” Perry said.

School administrators said the boys were arrested and criminally charged, but Perry isn’t sure she believes that.

“I want to press charges,” Perry said. “I’m trying to understand why no one left here in handcuffs.”
