Police say the 31-year-old man was taken to the hospital in critical condition with a life-threatening injury. His current condition is unclear.

Police are still searching for the shooter, but investigators say they have several promising leads.

The incident shut down a nearby CVS pharmacy for several hours, keeping people from being able to get inside and fill prescriptions.

The identity of the victim has not been released. It’s unclear if police have any leads on the shooter or why he or she targeted the victim.

Leslie Coffield told Fernandes that she heard the shooting as she pulled into the plaza to shop at a store nearby.

“Well when we were pulling up, we saw like a car pull up in front of the barbershop,” Coffield said. “We just heard a gunshot and when we looked, we saw the guy falling on the ground.”

An ambulance arrived at the scene five minutes later. The man was alert and conscious when he was taken to the hospital. His current condition has not been released.

Jan Hardy said the shooting hampered her plans to fill a prescription at the nearby CVS.

“I’m doing hospice care at home with my twin brother, and I was picking up at CVS but he said he’s not sure how long,” Hardy said.
