16-year-old boy arrested on murder charges in shooting death of security guard at car dealership

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A 16-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with murder in the shooting death of a security guard at a Stonecrest car dealership last week.

Henry Ashley, 24, was shot and killed on Feb. 19 as he responded to reports of attempted car thieves at the Courtesy Chrysler Dodge car dealership.

Ashley was the father of a 4-year-old son.

The 16-year-old, who has not been identified because he is a juvenile, is one of five suspects caught on surveillance video at the dealership that night.

The suspects fled the scene in a gray vehicle immediately after the shooting.

Police said the 16-year-old was caught on camera wearing a black hoodie with white lettering.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrests of the four remaining suspects.

Anyone who has information or recognizes any of the suspects or the gray vehicle involved in the murder of Mr. Ashley is urged to call DeKalb Police homicide detectives with tips at 770-724-7850 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS. Those providing tips can remain anonymous.

A trust fund has been set up for Ashley’s wife, Kyla Rushton, and his son Henry at Synovus Bank under Rushton’s name.
