According to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, a 27-year-old man tried to swim across the Chattahoochee River to a popular diving rock at 8 p.m. He was unable to stay above the water and started to go under.

His sister tried rescuing him, but was unable to stay above water as well and had to break contact.

Cobb County fire crews and DNR game wardens searched for him until nightfall and they began their search again Saturday morning. He has not yet been found.
