Good news! Dog stolen outside CVS reunited with family

NORTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A metro Atlanta couple whose car was stolen with their miniature dachshund inside has been reunited with their family dog.

A good Samaritan found him wandering alone in a parking lot.

Matt and Ashley Kossoff say they had gotten a friend to watch their 9-year-old pooch, Milo, while they were out of town.

Police say the dogsitter went to a CVS parking lot Friday on Bolton Road to use a DVD kiosk and left his Mercedes-Benz running. While he was out of the car, someone got in and drove away.

Channel 2′s Michael Seiden talked to the Kossoffs, who offered a $5,000 cash reward for their dog.

“It was just kind of devastating and shocking and unexpected. He's our firstborn," Matt Kossoff said. "We're offering $5,000 in cash. No questions asked. We just want the dog."

On Sunday, they were posting flyers everywhere, hoping to get Milo home before it's too late.

“We’re holding out hope that someone has him,” Kossoff said.

Surveillance cameras captured the slider thief speeding off in their dogsitter's car.

Slider crimes have become an epidemic in the city.

“You criminals today, that’s how they make their money,” Lt. Barry Shaw said. “We need people to stop leaving keys in the car. Stop leaving guns in the car.”
