Community raising money for funeral of 22-year-old who died of COVID-19

SNELLVILLE, Ga. — A Georgia community is working to raise money for funeral arrangements for a 22-year-old man who died of COVID-19.

Jacob Kurasaka worked in the produce department at an Ingles in Snellville.

He died of COVID-19 on Sept. 25.

“I can’t make sense of this situation,” his uncle, Woody Harris, wrote on Facebook. “I am at a loss for words. I am posting because I don’t know what else to do. I am asking that everyone be careful, take precautions, get the vaccine, mask up. Do whatever you can to take care of yourselves and each other.”

Kurasaka graduated from Shiloh High School and enjoyed playing video games, drawing and spending time with friends and family.

His mother, Taesha Kurasaka, wrote that his last words to her were “I love you.”

The family has set up a GoFundMe to help with Kurasaka’s funeral expenses.
