ATLANTA — United States Senator Jon Ossoff and Republican challenger Rep. Mike Collins exchanged criticism over economic issues as the Georgia Senate race continued to draw national attention.

Collins campaigned in Atlanta alongside Sen. Majority Leader John Thune, a Republican from South Dakota, who voiced confidence in the GOP’s chances in Georgia and reiterated his support for Collins’ campaign.
“I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t think that we can win the state of Georgia,” Thune said during the event.
Thune’s visit comes as the race continues to attract attention from both national parties. Collins is challenging Ossoff, the Democratic incumbent seeking another term in the U.S. Senate.
During the Atlanta campaign stop, Collins focused on economic and affordability concerns, arguing that lower taxes, reduced regulations and market-driven policies would help address inflation.
Ossoff responded during a virtual news conference, criticizing Collins’ voting record and linking him to policies supported by President Donald Trump.
“Congressman Mike Collins is a Trump puppet who has voted seven times for the disastrous Iran war that has sent gas prices through the roof. He’s voted repeatedly for the Trump tariffs that sent grocery prices soaring,” Ossoff said.
Ossoff also argued that Republican policies have contributed to higher consumer costs, while Collins blamed economic challenges on policies implemented during former President Joe Biden’s administration.
Early voting in Georgia is scheduled to begin Oct. 13.
