POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. — A driver was caught traveling more than twice the speed limit in Powder Springs, according to police.

The Powder Springs Police Department said on Thursday, officers stopped a vehicle going 112 miles per hour in a posted 45 mph zone, nearly 70 mph over the speed limit.
Police said the driver was traveling 67 mph over the posted limit, a speed they say puts both the driver and others on the road at serious risk.

“At that speed, you’re not just risking a ticket, you’re risking your life and the lives of everyone sharing the road with you,” the department said.
“Because 112 in a 45 is WILD WORK and it ends in a pair of our  shiny bracelets," the department said.
The department used the incident as a reminder for drivers to slow down, wear their seat belts and make safety a priority behind the wheel.
Police did not release details about the driver or any charges filed.
