COBB COUNTY, Ga. — The Georgia Department of Transportation is planning to start an intersection safety project at Dallas Highway and Mount Calvary Road in Cobb County, the county announced Friday.
State officials notified county authorities of the project, which aims to reduce crashes at the location.
The safety initiative will eliminate left turns from Mount Calvary Road onto Dallas Highway, also designated as State Route 120.
Angle collisions at the intersection prompted the state to alter traffic patterns.
Once the project is complete, traffic moving from Mount Calvary Road with plans to travel east on Dallas Highway will be rerouted.
Drivers will need to navigate through adjacent roadways or use an expanded U-turn located at the Martin Ridge Drive intersection.
Construction on the intersection project is anticipated to begin by the end of August.
