HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — Police arrested a man they say posed as a stranded driver in order to rob an unsuspecting good Samaritan.

According to the Henry County Police Department, Gunici flagged the man down on the I-75 southbound entrance ramp from Jonesboro Road around 4 p.m. on Monday.

“The suspect was standing outside a red minivan type vehicle, with the hood up. The suspect pretended to be needing assistance with his vehicle and after approaching the victim, he displayed a handgun and robbed the victim of his valuables,” the police department posted on its Facebook page.

The suspect then took off southbound onto I-75.

On Wednesday, Gunici was spotted driving a silver SUV, according to the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies found the SUV parked on the side of the entrance ramp to I-75 southbound at Old Dixie Road. They then saw Gunici on the passenger side of another vehicle speaking with the driver. When Gunici saw the deputy, he waved the car away and began walking toward the deputy, the sheriff’s office said. He was quickly recognized as the suspect and arrested.

“No doubt these Deputies prevented another robbery from taking place!” the sheriff’s office said in a release.
