Clayton County choir to represent Georgia at upcoming choral conference

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A Clayton county young singers group is slated to perform at a prestigious choral conference.

The Singing Brothers of Stilwell are an extracurricular organization comprised of 9th through 12th graders from the Martha Ellen Stilwell School of the Arts in Clayton County.

The Singing Brothers of Stilwell were selected to perform at the American Choral Directors Association 2022 Southern Region Conference in Raleigh, North Carolina. These singing scholars were chosen out of nearly one hundred choirs that hoped to be given the honor.

The Singing Brothers of Stilwell are one of three groups that will represent Georgia at the conference.

Being called to perform at important events is not something new for the group. They have performed at the National Association for Music Education’s National Conference, Grapevine, Texas (2018); the National School Boards Association’s Conference, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (2019); the Georgia School Board Association State Conference (2019); the Georgia Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association’s State Conference (2019); and a collaborative performance with the Morehouse Glee Club and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (2020).

The accomplishments of the group are possible due to the support of their director, Dr. Jimmy Cheek, and other support staff that includes Anthony Liggins, Wendel Stephens and Vicorie Brown.
