America at 250: Heat doesn’t deter fireworks watchers at metro Atlanta show

WOODSTOCK, Ga. — Families in Woodstock braved the heat Saturday for the 30th annual Fourth of July.

It’s a celebration that holds extra meaning this year a America turns 250.

Channel 2’s Susan Hendricks said the heat did not keep people from coming out early for the fireworks.

“We were not prepared for this but that is why we have a fan a misting fan so we’re about to hook the water up to it,” one person said.

The sweltering temps were no match for the kids patiently waiting for the big show, and they shared their favorites: “I’m looking forward to the sparkling ones. It sounds so good.”

And the show was certainly worth the wait, a huge display for America’s 250th, the significance of this big birthday felt by those in the crowd.
