Babysitter arrested in death of 9-month-old boy in Sandy Springs

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — Police have arrested a Sandy Springs man in the death of a 9-month-old baby. Police said the man was the child’s babysitter.

Police got a 911 call about an unresponsive child at an apartment on Willow Heights Drive on March 31.

First responders rushed the child to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Detectives learned that Dehaven Johnson, 28, was babysitting the child.

An autopsy revealed that the infant suffered severe injuries  that resulted his death

Johnson has been charged with felony murder, first degree cruelty to children and aggravated battery.

The victim’s identity is not being released because of his age.
