ATLANTA — Freezing rain and below-freezing temperatures are making for a nasty mix across North Georgia.
Friday’s winter storm started with snow, then turned freezing rain and now icy conditions are getting worse across the region.
Here is a minute-by-minute look at what’s going on:
1:13 p.m.
The Atlanta Botanical Garden will closed on Saturday and Sunday, meaning Garden Lights, Holiday Nights will be canceled. Spokespeople say those with tickets will be refunded immediately.
1:01 p.m.
Busy Clairmont Bridge in the City of Chamblee has reopened between Peachtree Blvd. and New Peachtree Rd.
12:00 p.m.
As of 12 p.m., there were 339 flights canceled and 480 delayed at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
11:00 a.m.
Georgia Power says 60,000 of their customers statewide are still without power, but they have restored power to more than 230,000 customers.
They say some of the hardest hit areas in metro Atlanta included Alpharetta, Jonesboro and Atlanta.
There is no estimated time for the remaining customers to have power restored.
10:55 a.m.
The FAA has removed ground delay status from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Flight tracker Flight Aware reports that 331 flights have been canceled at the Atlanta airport and another 350 have been delayed.
10:35 a.m.
Wires down on I-285 eastbound near Bouldercrest Road. Traffic pacing taking place in both directions.
10:02 a.m.
The Atlanta Hawks and Houston Rockets game scheduled for Saturday afternoon at State Farm Arena has been postponed, the NBA announced.
The date for the rescheduled game has not been announced.
9 a.m.
As of 9 a.m., there were 322 flights canceled and 180 delayed at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
There are roughly 70,000 customers without power in metro Atlanta.
6:30 a.m..
As of 6:30 a.m., there were over 66,000 customers without power around metro Atlanta. There were 314 flights canceled and 49 delayed at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
5:30 a.m.
As of 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, there have been 311 flights canceled and 45 flights delayed at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
4:30 a.m.
As of 4:30 a.m., there were 307 flights canceled at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and 42 flights delayed.
1:05 a.m.
For Saturday so far, there have been 213 flight cancelations at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and 27 flight delays.
1 a.m.
Total power outages across Georgia number around 92,000 customers between Georgia Power and Georgia’s EMCs.
12:35 a.m.
Dunwoody police said they have downed trees and powerlines across the city.
