ATLANTA — Rainy weather has forced organizers of the Atlanta Food & Wine Festival to cancel one of Saturday’s planned events.

Festival officials announced Saturday that The Southern Spread x Tasting Tent, scheduled for Saturday afternoon, would not take place because of weather conditions in metro Atlanta.
“Unfortunately, due to the weather in Atlanta, we have made the difficult decision to cancel today’s Southern Spread x Tasting Tent event,” organizers said in a statement.
Despite the cancellation, festival officials said Saturday evening events remain on schedule.
“The good news is that we are moving full steam ahead with tonight’s Stacked: The Burger Social and Whiskey & Fire,” organizers said.
Festival organizers also expect Sunday’s events to move forward as planned.
“The forecast is calling for beautiful weather tomorrow, so we’re excited to host Sunday’s Homecoming x Tasting Tent event as planned,” the statement said.

The weather-related cancellation comes as the four-day festival wraps up its final weekend events in Atlanta.
Attendees who spoke with Channel 2 Action News before the weather announcement described the festival as an annual tradition.
“I love the experience. We had so much fun,” Kimberly Barnes of Douglasville said. “All the vendors were nice.”
Michele Johnson of Johns Creek said she has attended the festival multiple times.
“This is our third year coming. It’s fun. It’s a summer activity,” Johnson said. “Everybody’s outside chilling. The food is great.”
