Person found shot, dead in front of student lofts near Georgia Tech campus

ATLANTA — Atlanta police are investigating a fatal shooting incident Sunday morning after finding someone lying dead in front of a building on West Marietta Street in northwest Atlanta.

Police said they were called to the Westmar Student Lofts around 5 a.m. Sunday for a report of a person injured in front of the building. Officers said when they arrived, they found someone dead with a gunshot wound.

The lofts are located on West Marietta Street, just a few blocks from the Georgia Tech campus.

Homicide investigators were on the scene for most of the morning but have not released any further information at this time.
