ATLANTA — A murder suspect has died after leading Georgia State Patrol troopers on a high-speed chase through Atlanta, police say.

Police say they were called to Smith’s home for a welfare check, which is when they found her dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators determined that Bussey, who was the father of Smith’s child, came to the home to return Smith’s car when an argument began. They say Bussey then shot Smith and drove off in her car. The child was not in the home at the time of the murder.

Police issued a BOLO for Smith’s Ford Edge, which was spotted around 6:30 p.m. by GSP troopers near Ponce De Leon Ave. in northeast Atlanta. They attempted to stop the car, but Bussey fled and ultimately crashed at the intersection of Ponce De Leon Ave. and Boulevard NE.

Police say there are no other suspects or victims involved in this case.
