Middle school student arrested for having gun in book bag at Howard Middle School

ATLANTA — A student at David T. Howard Middle School has been arrested after he was found with a gun inside his book back.

Channel 2 Action News has obtained a letter sent home to parents that said administrators heard rumors that the student had a gun and quickly located him around 1:15 p.m.

Authorities searched his locker and book bag and they found the gun inside the bag.

“The student claimed another student was paying him to hold the weapon for him,” the letter to parents said. “A thorough investigation by the Atlanta Public Schools Police Department is underway.”
