Gov. Brian Kemp’s sister-in-law dies at age 61

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — Governor Brian Kemp’s sister-in-law has died at age 61.

Mimi Argo-Laney, who is the sister of Georgia First Lady Marty Kemp, died on Tuesday.

Argo-Laney lived in Milledgeville at the time of her death, but grew up in Athens and spent much of her life in Atlanta.

“Mimi’s passing leaves our entire family heartbroken. We ask for prayers for Russ, their two sons, and everyone blessed to know and love her,” First Lady Marty Kemp tweeted Wednesday night.

According to her obituary, the family is asking anyone who wants to honor Argo-Laney’s memory is donate to the Spectrum Autism Support Group, which she helped to found.

A celebration of life service is being held for Argo-Laney on September 18 at Snellville Christian Church.
