College Football Playoff Championship: Atlanta extends hours that alcohol can be served after game

ATLANTA — The Atlanta City Council has voted to extend bar hours for celebrations that will follow the College Football Playoff National Championship game on Jan. 20.

Restrictions for bars and restaurants that are licensed to sell alcohol in the City of Atlanta will be waived on Monday night after the game is held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, allowing alcohol to be sold until 2:30 a.m., rather than the normal cutoff time of midnight.

Those businesses must be closed and cleared of patrons by 3 a.m.
