ATLANTA — The parent company behind such famed brands as Yankee Candle, Elmer’s Glue, Rubbermaid, Sharpies and more said prices will be going up next, even while reporting a strong sales record for the year.

However, some products won’t be impacted.

“Top-line growth accelerated sequentially as Newell Brands delivered its second consecutive quarter of year-over-year growth in sales,” Newell Brands CEO Chris Peterson said in a statement. “Growth during the quarter was broad-based, with both the U.S. and International delivering growth along with four of our six businesses and seven of our top 10 brands.”

Despite higher sales, the company said inflation remains a factor they’re working to manage.

Newell Brands leaders said during the investor call that the increased pressure from inflation meant the company would need to increase some of its product prices.

The comments can be reviewed in a transcript of the company’s third quarter earnings call published by The Motley Fool, as well as in a recording of the meeting shared by i101.

“We expect inflation of about $150 million, which is above normal levels but below $220 million in 2026. Given the cumulative 2-year impact of inflation of $370 million, or about 8%,” Peterson said during the investor call. “We plan to take modest pricing early in 2027 as we cannot offset this level of impact from productivity alone.”

While price increases were coming, Peterson said baby gear products were not included in those adjustments.

Peterson said tariffs on those products are also expected to reduce.

The CEO also said that tariff refunds would help normalize operating margins, with $100 million in refunds for 2026.

Compared to increases the company made in 2023 and 2024, Peterson said the increases in 2026 would be more modest and would be timed to happen when the company’s competitors make similar moves.

Leadership at Newell Brands said the year’s stronger sales and productivity helped the company expand and normalize earnings.

Despite potential economic challenges, Chief Financial Officer Mark Erceg said “we anticipate reducing total debt and factoring by a couple hundred million dollars this year.”

Sales are also expected to increase through the end of the year.

Channel 2 Action News has asked Newell Brands for more information on which products would be impacted across the company’s portfolio.
