ATLANTA — The Atlanta Department of Watershed Management said it lifted the boil water advisory issued on Sunday that impacted customers across southwest and northwest Atlanta, as well as other cities around the metro area.
Channel 2 Action News reported when the boil water advisory began, resulting from a supply issue at the Chattahoochee Water Treatment Plant.
On Monday, water department officials said they expected to have the advisory lifted by 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, but the official notice canceling the boil water advisory wasn’t made until almost 4 p.m.

Even with the boil water advisory lifted for the areas in Atlanta that were impacted, water officials said there are small portions of the City of South Fulton, Fairburn, Union City, Chattahoochee Hills and Palmetto that are still under a boil water advisory.
“The advisory remains in place for South Fulton, Fairburn, Union City, Chattahoochee Hills, and Palmetto until further notice. The advisory will not be lifted for these five cities until the necessary sampling requirements have been verified,” the department said. “Customers should continue following all boil water precautions until an official notice lifting the advisory is issued.”
DWM said it expects to fully lift the boil water advisory by 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
