ATLANTA — Travelers flying through Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport will soon have another airline option as Volaris prepares to begin service in Atlanta on Oct. 2.
Airport officials announced they are welcoming the ultra-low-cost carrier, which operates flights throughout Mexico, the United States, Costa Rica, Guatemala and El Salvador.
The addition is expected to provide more travel options and strengthen connections between Atlanta and destinations across Mexico.
“We’re excited to welcome Volaris to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, bringing even more ways to connect ATL with Mexico,” airport officials said in announcing the new service.

Founded in 2003, Volaris was created through a partnership involving investment funds Discovery Americas I, Columbia Equity Partners and TACA Airlines.
The airline launched operations in 2006 with its inaugural flight between Toluca and Tijuana.
Today, the carrier markets itself as an ultra-low-cost airline focused on expanding affordable air travel options while offering customers a range of services and products.
The airline’s parent company, Controladora Vuela Compañía de Aviación, S.A.B. de C.V., is publicly traded on both the Mexican Stock Exchange under the symbol “VOLAR” and the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “VLRS.”
The launch marks another international expansion for Atlanta’s airport, which remains one of the world’s busiest passenger hubs.
