American Idol: Georgia’s Willie Spence advances to Top 5 after touching Mother’s Day performance

LOS ANGELES — Georgia’s own Willie Spence has survived another night of live voting and is moving on into the Top 5.

The 21-year-old from Coffee County, Ga. wowed the judges with a rendition of Coldplay’s ‘Yellow’ in the first round devoted to the band.

In the second round, the contestants all sang songs devoted to their moms for the episode airing on Mother’s Day. Spence sang Joe Cocker’s “You Are So Beautiful.”

Next week, the competition heats up even more as it narrows down to the Top 3 ahead of the finale.
