BARROW COUNTY, Ga. — A student at Apalachee High School was taken into custody, the sheriff’s office said.
A sheriff’s office spokesperson confirmed to Channel 2’s Courtney Francisco that the student had half-scissors in his sleeve and was arrested.
No information on the suspect’s identity or possible charges was provided.
The district invested in new technology, including a new weapon detection system, since the 2024 shooting that killed two students and two teachers at the school.
They mapped the school to provide information to first responders, and hired more School Resource officers.
