9-year-old Atlanta boy shot last week was filming TikTok video, mother says

ATLANTA — The mother of a boy injured in a shooting in east Atlanta said he was filming a TikTok video when the bullets started flying.

The shooting happened Thursday night along Flat Shoals Road in the East Atlanta Village.

Javonni Carson was one of three people injured in the shooting.

Carson’s mother set up a GoFundMe account to help with the 9-year-old’s recovery.

The boy’s mother wrote that he was “just be as normal as he was while making his TikTok video” when he was shot in his legs.

Police found 42 shell casings scattered in the street. Detectives told Channel 2 Action News a large group of people were arguing, and someone decided to open fire.

Carson’s mother says her two other children witnessed the shooting.

“They were there also, they saw all those guns, blood and seen the fire of those bullets as people fell in front of them and hid and ran and screamed for help,” Javonni’s mother wrote.

Javonni’s mother described the boy as a striving football player and rapper, and said he is loved by many because his character and magnetic personality.

“Pray and Love on your families because they can be taken away at any moment,” Javonni’s mother wrote.

So far, the family has raised more than $5,000 of their $20,000 goal.
