$700 million up for grabs in Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing

The Powerball jackpot is up for grabs again Wednesday night. This time, you could win $700 million.

It is the fifth largest jackpot in Powerball history. The cash value is more than $335 million.

Watch the drawing LIVE on Channel 2 at 11 p.m. followed by WSB Tonight at 11 p.m.

Channel 2′s Berndt Petersen spoke with the owner of Leon’s Food Mart, affectionately known as Lucky Leon’s, in Forsyth County who says his store has a reputation for selling winning tickets.

“It is a lot of fun. There’s a lot of excitement around,” Sam Budhani said.

Budhani says that when the Powerball jackpot rises and more people want tickets, he sells more of nearly every other item in his store as well.

“Usually they come in and get a drink and get lottery,” counter clerk Tammy Roberts said.

While there hasn’t been a jackpot winner, a couple of Georgians did come away with a nice prize after the past couple of drawings.

One DeKalb County gas station sold a $50,000 winning ticket that matched four of five numbers and the Powerball.

Another store sold a winning ticket for the same prize but with the Power Play that brought the winnings up to $200,000.

How do you claim the $200,000 ticket sold in Monday’s drawing or any other winning ticket in Georgia?

Georgia Lottery says any prizes less than $600 can be claimed at any of its retailers; however, prizes over $600 must be claimed at the lottery headquarters or district offices or mailed for the payment.

Winners of prizes more than $600 must fill out a winner claim form and have a valid government issued photo ID with a social security card.

In Georgia, winners who purchased their tickets online have 180 days to claim their prize. For winners who buy instant tickets, they only have 90 days from the expired date to claim their prize.
