69-year-old former MARTA train operator with dementia reported missing

ATLANTA — Police are searching for a man who walked away from a home last week and hasn’t been seen since.

Lazarus Parker, 69, has been diagnosed with dementia and his longtime friend, Congressman Hank Johnson, said he left his home Friday around 11 a.m. He hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

The former MARTA train operator was last seen in the area of Glenview Circle in southwest Atlanta.

Johnson said friends and family will be walking around the area passing out flyers on Wednesday.

There is a $1,000 reward for whoever finds Parker, Johnson said.

Parker is about 6 feet tall, weighs about 190 pounds and was last wearing a white t-shirt and black and white striped Adidas pants.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Atlanta police department at 404-546-4235.
