3 former employees arrested in armed robberies of 8 Waffle House stores

BIBB COUNTY, Ga. — Three former employees are accused of robbing eight Georgia Waffle House restaurants in March, police said.

The robberies happened over the course of 23 days at Waffle House locations in Conyers, Kennesaw, Lithia Springs, Newnan, Macon, Forsyth and Palmetto, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The suspects have been identified as Johnny Leon Anthony, 27, his brother Darien Jermaine Anthony, 25, and Myia Lasheay Thompson, 20.

The suspects were arrested March 27 after an armed robbery at a Waffle House in Bibb County. Deputies say the group entered a Waffle House on Bowman Road in Macon around 3:20 a.m. Two of them brandished handguns.

The suspects demanded that one employee get on the floor and then took cash from the cash register and from the office. They then fled through a rear door of the restaurant. No one was inured.

Investigators spoke to the Waffle House Corporate Office and learned that the Anthonys and Thompson may also have been involved in at least seven other armed robberies at Waffle Houses across the state.

Th Bibb County Sheriff's Office called in the FBI for assistance in enhancing security footage of the robbery in Bibb County, which helped to identify the suspects. All three worked at a Waffle House in Clayton County.

The Anthonys and Thompson have each been charged with armed robbery. The are being held in the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center without bond.
